Han Solo’s iconic blaster from Star Wars has become the most expensive prop gun ever sold at auction, even making its way into the Guinness Book of World Records. It is the only surviving blaster of the three made for the 1977 film A New Hope.
The laser blaster, used by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy, sold for over $1 million ($1,057,500, approximately €980,000), making it the most expensive prop gun ever auctioned.
Officially known as the BlasTech DL-44 Heavy Blaster, it was one of three blasters used by Ford in Episode IV: A New Hope. The gun sold by Rock Island Auction Company is the only remaining one from those made for the movie.
The prop was created using a German-made Mauser C96 from World War I, with parts from a World War II MG81 machine gun and a Hensoldt-Wetzlar rifle scope from the early 20th century.
Guinness World Records has confirmed that the selling price makes it the most expensive prop gun ever sold at auction.
The blaster had an initial estimated bid of $500,000 (€460,000), but a dedicated fan was so eager to own it that they paid more than double the expected amount.
