Veteran Bollywood actor Sameer Khakhar has passed away. He died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai. The 71-year-old actor had been suffering from respiratory issues for a long time. According to The Times of India, he was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon after he experienced breathing difficulties.
Sameer Khakhar’s brother, Ganesh Khakhar, shared that the actor had been battling respiratory problems for a while, along with other health issues. Yesterday, after he suddenly lost consciousness, they admitted him to the hospital based on the doctor’s advice. During this time, his heart wasn’t functioning properly.
As a result, he was placed on a ventilator, but unfortunately, they couldn’t save him. He passed away at around 4 AM while still receiving treatment at the hospital.
Sameer Khakhar was highly popular on television. He had taken a break from acting and moved to the United States for a while. Later, he returned to India and expressed his desire to return to acting. In an interview, he once said, “I want to keep working until my last breath. I am not tired yet. I want to entertain people for the rest of my life.”
Following that, he joined Salman Khan’s movie Jai Ho. He also appeared in Bollywood films like Hasee Toh Phasee, Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi, and Dilwale alongside Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty. Most recently, he was seen in popular series like The Family Man and Farzi.
In a career spanning 38 years, Sameer Khakhar acted in numerous films and TV shows. He was particularly well-known for his work on television. His final rites were completed at 11 AM today at Borivali’s Babai Naka crematorium.
