Plaza Collection, a prominent fashion brand established in 1982, has announced plans to construct a new headquarters in Salford, Greater Manchester, representing a significant £7 million investment. The company, known for selling approximately 25,000 garments weekly through wholesale and online platforms, aims to significantly upgrade its operational capabilities.
Currently situated in OM House on Broughton Street, Cheetham Hill, the family-run business has recognised the necessity for larger premises, having outgrown its existing facilities. The chosen site, located at 266 Bury New Road, was formerly a car dealership owned by the company, providing a strategic location for the redevelopment.
The proposed development will not only include the redevelopment and expansion of existing car showroom buildings to house the new headquarters, but also a five-storey storage unit. This expansion is aimed at facilitating Plaza Collection’s planned growth, including a 50% increase in its workforce, from approximately 40 employees currently. Additionally, the project will incorporate a standalone self-storage unit, intended to be leased to a specialist operator, offering an independent revenue stream.
The redevelopment plan, detailed in the planning documents, outlines a total gross internal area of 5,358 square metres. This new space is designed to accommodate the company’s expanding range of operations and its aspirations for future growth. By securing this expanded capacity, Plaza Collection anticipates enhancing its service delivery and operational efficiency.
Currently, the planning application is undergoing review by the Salford City Council, with a decision anticipated by the end of the current year, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
