Hewlett Packard Enterprise has formally relocated its Bristol operations to a new, modern office at Lake View, Stoke Gifford, after a longstanding presence in the region spanning more than four decades. This strategic move aims to consolidate over 200 staff members involved in various key sectors, including storage, super-computing, hybrid cloud, and cybersecurity.
The shift in location brings together previously scattered teams, offering a unified space that includes the HPE storage, hybrid cloud, and Cray supercomputing teams. This marks the first time these teams are co-located, enhancing their ability to synergise on innovative projects. Cray supercomputing, with its European headquarters previously in Bristol city centre, was incorporated into HPE following an acquisition in 2019.
Notably, the HPE Cray team in Bristol has significantly contributed to some of the global leaders in supercomputing, such as Frontier and the University of Bristol’s Isambard-AI. Matt Harris, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for UK, Ireland, Middle East, and Africa at HPE, remarked, “Now is the perfect time to bring our storage, cloud, labs and supercomputing R&D teams together under one roof as we accelerate into the AI era.” Harris further emphasised Bristol’s long-standing role as an ideal location for HPE’s Research and Development (R&D) teams.
The new office site also functions as a sales hub for the South West and is designed with a variety of work environments. These include specialised labs, open collaboration areas, and focused workspaces, all crafted to maximise flexibility and support employee wellness. Additional facilities feature an on-site gym, a squash court, and bespoke graffiti art by local Bristol artists, celebrating the city’s artistic heritage.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s move to Lake View in Bristol signifies a strategic alignment of resources to bolster innovation and maintain leadership in tech development.
