Billionaire Mark Cuban’s recent social media poll has revealed an unexpected preference for former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris as a role model for children.
Despite Cuban’s long-standing criticisms of Trump, the results of this informal poll were surprising. Cuban, who boasts 8.8 million followers on his social media platform, posed a direct question: ‘Whose persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?’ Participants were asked to choose between the two leading figures in the 2024 U.S. presidential election—Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.
Out of over 800,000 votes cast, a striking 68.9% selected Trump, whereas only 31.1% opted for Harris. This outcome quickly garnered significant attention, generating a wide array of comments and reactions.
Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, weighed in with a video response featuring Republican Senator John Kennedy. In the video, Kennedy emphasised that voters do not necessarily need to personally like a candidate to support them. He urged the public to focus on a candidate’s policies and record rather than personal affinity.
Additionally, the discussion reignited contentious claims about Harris, with some users reiterating baseless accusations concerning her political ascent in California. These allegations were cited as reasons for preferring Trump.
Interestingly, Cuban had once shown support for Trump during his 2016 campaign, viewing him as a novel alternative to conventional candidates. However, Cuban’s stance has since evolved, and this summer he expressed his support for Harris as she became the presumptive Democratic nominee.
The poll’s results have sparked a meaningful debate about the qualities and characteristics that the public values in their leaders, especially those deemed suitable as role models for the next generation.
