Tesco is set to reintroduce its F&F clothing line online for the first time since 2018.
- The digital launch is slated for later this year, complementing Tesco’s expanding online marketplace.
- F&F’s online presence was halted in 2018 due to profitability issues.
- Earlier this year, Tesco integrated third-party products into its marketplace.
- F&F also launched a significant homeware brand earlier this month.
Tesco is preparing to bring back its F&F clothing range online, marking the first such availability since the option was withdrawn in 2018. According to sources, the digital offering is anticipated to go live later this year and will be integrated into Tesco’s comprehensive online marketplace on Tesco.com. This marketplace, which launched in June, hosts a wide array of third-party products including DIY, garden, homeware, pet care, and toys, enhancing the variety of items available to customers beyond the standard in-store selection.
Greg Bertrand, who heads Tesco’s rapid delivery service Whoosh, was appointed earlier this year to lead the online efforts for F&F. His role is understood to encompass overseeing this online resurgence, leveraging his expertise to navigate the complexities of digital retail in the supermarket sphere.
The initial launch of a dedicated F&F clothing website occurred in 2009, becoming part of the Tesco Direct platform in 2016. However, by 2018, Tesco Direct was shuttered due to a lack of profitability, leading to F&F clothing being accessible only through third-party collaborations, notably via Next’s platform from 2019 until earlier this year.
This development coincides with F&F’s recent launch of its inaugural homeware brand. This new line, encompassing over 1,000 items, spans various home décor and furnishing categories, offering products ranging from everyday essentials like plates and glassware to furnishings such as rugs and decorative accessories. Prices start as low as 50p, reflecting a broad appeal across different consumer budgets.
This strategic relaunch underscores Tesco’s commitment to enhancing its digital presence and expanding customer access to its brands online.
