- Growing demand for non-alcoholic beverages influenced Tesco’s decision, mirroring broader market trends.
- The inclusion follows a significant rise in no and low alcoholic drink sales during key periods.
- Lucky Saint’s Alcohol-Free Lager becomes the first non-alcoholic beer in the ‘Finest Dine In’ range.
- The move also sees the introduction of 11 new seasonal dishes to the menu.
Tesco has taken a significant step by adding a non-alcoholic beer option to its ‘Finest Dine In for Two’ offer for the first time, partnering with Lucky Saint’s Alcohol-Free Lager. This strategic inclusion is driven by the increasing consumer preference for non-alcoholic beverages, a trend reflected in the supermarket’s growing sales figures.
During Dry January 2024, Tesco reported a remarkable 15% year-on-year increase in no and low alcoholic beer and cider sales. The upward trend continued into the summer, reinforced by the ongoing popularity of lower and non-alcoholic options during major events like the Euros, marking the highest sales week outside of the festive season.
Luke Boase, founder of Lucky Saint, highlighted the rising supermarket demand for alcohol-free beer, emphasising how customers are increasingly choosing such options throughout the week and during weekends. According to Boase, “We’re proud that Lucky Saint is the first ever alcohol-free beer to be included in the Tesco Finest Dine In range, providing a great tasting alcohol-free 4-pack for shoppers to pick up with their dinner.”
In addition to introducing non-alcoholic beer to the menu, Tesco’s ‘Finest Dine In for Two’ offer will see the addition of 11 new autumn/winter dishes. The updated menu includes a variety of mains, sides, and desserts, enhancing the £12 Clubcard offer with diverse culinary options. New mains feature creative dishes such as Chicken & Serrano Ham with Beurre Blanc Sauce and SunBlush Tomato Gnocchi with Roasted Butternut Squash.
As Tesco expands its offerings, it aligns with the broader market trend of small, frequent shopping trips, reflecting changes in consumer purchasing behaviour. By providing enhanced meal options and non-alcoholic drinks, Tesco effectively caters to a wide range of customer preferences.
