Sosandar, the womenswear brand, is set to open its third store in the Metrocentre shopping centre this autumn. This strategic move follows successful store launches in Chelmsford and Marlow, with the Metrocentre location expected to open in October. The timing is crucial as it coincides with the start of the key Christmas trading period, which is a peak time for retail sales. The Metrocentre store will be situated in the Platinum Mall, a prime location that hosts high-profile retailers like Jo Malone and Harrods’ H Beauty, ensuring a high footfall and brand visibility.
The opening of the Metrocentre store is a part of Sosandar’s ambitious plan to establish 50 retail locations over the next five years. This expansion strategy indicates the brand’s confidence in physical retail spaces and its commitment to reaching consumers directly. The brand is currently in the latter stages of finalising legal processes for several other sites and actively exploring additional locations for future outlets.
Ali Hall and Julie Lavington, the co-CEOs of Sosandar, expressed their excitement about the new opening. They highlighted that their store locations are carefully selected based on stringent criteria to ensure they are in thriving areas where the brand’s target customers are prevalent. “We have a strict criteria of opening stores in top tier, thriving locations where Sosandar customers over-index, and Metrocentre ticks all these boxes,” they stated, underscoring the significance of Metrocentre’s reputation for offering a diverse range of fashion retailers.
Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros, the asset managers of Metrocentre, valued Sosandar’s choice of location as a significant step. He noted, “Sosandar’s arrival at Metrocentre for one of their first physical stores, and first in the region, is fantastic news and reflective of the destination’s dominance in the North East and strength in the UK as a whole.” His comments reflect the confidence that Metrocentre retains its appeal as a shopping destination despite broader challenges facing the retail sector.
Sosandar’s third store opening in the prestigious Metrocentre marks a pivotal step in its retail expansion strategy, promising to attract a robust customer base.
