Monsoon Accessorize, renowned for its commitment to innovation, is thrilled to announce new scholarships for the MA Fashion Futures course at London College of Fashion (LCF) and Central Saint Martins (CSM), part of the University of the Arts London (UAL). These scholarships, available from September 2024, underscore a focus on sustainability and aim to propel students committed to regenerative fashion and zero-waste design.
To be considered, applicants must demonstrate a substantial commitment to pre-consumer waste solutions and innovation in fashion design. This initiative continues to build on Monsoon Accessorize’s previous support, including aiding students like LCF’s Sarabi Hawke, known for her crochet workshops, and CSM’s Cassandra Quinn, whose research delves into utilising wastewater for material growth.
Nick Stowe, CEO of Monsoon Accessorize since 2019, expressed pride in their collaboration with UAL, highlighting the importance of these scholarships in fostering real change within the industry. He emphasised that the Fashion Futures course is at the forefront of research and innovation, thereby offering a critical platform for budding designers.
UAL’s chief social purpose officer, Polly Mackenzie, lauded the collaboration with Monsoon Accessorize, affirming that such initiatives are vital in their mission to forge a fashion industry grounded in sustainability and ethical practices.
Last year, Monsoon Accessorize collaborated with LCF’s Centre of Sustainable Fashion to examine how to mitigate waste challenges associated with sequins, reflecting their ongoing commitment to sustainable practices.
The scholarships by Monsoon Accessorize represent a significant stride towards integrating sustainability into fashion education.
