Represent, a prominent name in the British streetwear scene, is enhancing its footprint by launching its first UK retail outlet. The store is ideally located at Unit 2 New Cathedral Street in Manchester city centre, offering a prime spot between established brands Canada Goose and Paul Smith.
The brand was created in 2011 by brothers George and Mike Heaton, who hail from Greater Manchester. Represent’s product range, inspired by retro Mancunian designs, includes T-shirts, hoodies, and trainers. It boasts over 150 stockists globally, partnering with prestigious retailers such as Flannels, Selfridges, Harrods, Saks, Neiman Marcus Group, and Nordstrom.
Earlier this year, in March, Represent opened its debut physical store in Los Angeles, marking a significant milestone as the brand’s first brick-and-mortar establishment. Following this, they secured a ten-year lease for a 5,000 sq ft store on Wardour Street in London, slated for an opening in early 2025.
George Heaton, the brand’s creative director and founder, shared his enthusiasm about opening a store in Manchester, the very hometown of Represent. He highlighted the store’s launch as an iconic milestone for the brand, reflecting their regional roots and commitment to expanding their local influence.
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, praised Represent’s choice of location for their first permanent presence outside of London. Gray noted the growing demand on New Cathedral Street and Manchester Arndale from leading international brands, underscoring the site’s allure as a premier retail destination.
The opening of Represent’s Manchester store signifies a strategic expansion for the brand, aligning with both local heritage and global growth ambitions.
