Nisa, a prominent convenience retailer, recorded an impressive sales increase of nearly 30% from 2019 to 2022 within its forecourt retailer segment. This substantial growth is attributed to targeted investments in pricing strategies and operational expansions, resulting in the addition of 310 new stores over the past four years.
The strategic partnership with Ascona Group, which oversees 62 forecourts, has been instrumental in this success. Additionally, by the end of the year, MPK Garages will rebrand 28 of its stores with Co-op’s fascia, under the ‘Pop-In Daily’ independent brand, further solidifying Nisa’s market stance.
Victoria Lockie, Nisa’s head of retail, expressed enthusiasm about the growth, stating, ‘The growth we are seeing at the moment in our forecourt stores is tremendous and really encouraging.’ Collaborative efforts between Nisa’s teams and forecourt operators have led to significant sales uplifts, reinforcing the company’s strategic direction.
The selection of chilled, food-to-go, and Co-op own-brand products has proven attractive to consumers, contributing to an average weekly sales growth of 23%. Lockie highlights, ‘We’ve got some fantastic long-established relationships with many forecourt operators,’ noting the compelling appeal of Co-op’s own brand offerings.
Beyond forecourts, Nisa has seen continued success in its holiday park convenience stores. With Bourne Leisure, parent company of Haven Holidays, extending their contract, Nisa now supplies 177 holiday park stores. This year marks a robust period of recruitment, with 12 new stores joining in 2023, the highest since the pandemic.
Nisa’s strategic initiatives and partnerships have led to significant growth in its forecourt and holiday park sectors, affirming its robust market presence.
