British luxury brand Mulberry has named Andrea Baldo as its new chief executive officer. This pivotal decision marks the conclusion of Thierry Andretta’s tenure. The appointment, announced on 9 July 2024, is effective immediately, with Baldo set to officially join the board on 1 September 2024.
Andrea Baldo’s previous role was as CEO and executive director of Danish fashion label Ganni, where he served from 2018 until April this year. During his leadership, Ganni achieved a B Corp certification, which underscores the company’s commitment to balancing profit with broader social and environmental considerations. Furthermore, Baldo successfully expanded Ganni’s physical retail presence across new territories, including the UK, US, China, Australia, and Thailand.
Baldo brings with him a robust background in the fashion industry. Before his tenure at Ganni, he served as CEO and board director at the Italian leather goods and accessories brand Coccinelle from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, he was a board director at the Italian luxury goods company Marni Group from 2013 to 2016. His career foundation was laid at Diesel, where, over a span of ten years, he held numerous senior positions, notably as the chief operating officer of the US business.
Chris Roberts, chairman at Mulberry, expressed confidence in Baldo’s capability to steer the brand towards continued success. Roberts cited Baldo’s international fashion brand expertise, creativity, and strategic mindset as key factors in the hiring decision.
