Monsoon has formed a strategic partnership with My Wardrobe HQ to introduce a rental collection consisting of bridalwear and occasionwear. This collaboration aims to cater to the needs of modern consumers seeking affordability and sustainability in fashion.
The newly launched collection features 30 rental options, which comprise nine bridal pieces, 11 bridesmaid dresses, and 10 occasion dresses. Among these offerings, the feather-trimmed bridal jumpsuits have emerged as standout pieces, showcasing Monsoon’s commitment to style and quality. Each new season will see an addition of popular dresses and formalwear to keep the collection fresh and appealing.
Rental prices are structured to ensure affordability, with formalwear available for £5-6 per day and bridalwear for £8-14 per day, based on a minimum rental period of four days. This pricing strategy not only broadens Monsoon’s market reach but also provides consumers with a financially savvy alternative to traditional purchasing.
Naomi Robertson, Monsoon’s buying and merchandise director, reflects on the initiative by stating, “Dress rental allows our customers to wear and return our most gorgeous bridal and occasion pieces, ever widening our reach and giving modern women a more affordable and sustainable choice.” Her statement underscores the brand’s focus on meeting evolving consumer preferences while maintaining economic and environmental considerations.
This move follows a reported 4% drop in group sales for Monsoon’s parent company, Adena Brands, to £248m for the year ending August 2023. The decline, attributed to a transition to a new franchise partner in Saudi Arabia and decreased kidswear sales, led to a £4.4m reduction in EBITDA, standing at £20m. Nevertheless, retail sales showed a positive 4% growth, particularly driven by Monsoon’s Accessorize brand.
Monsoon’s rental collection with My Wardrobe HQ represents a strategic adaptation to current market demands, offering both sustainability and economic value.
