In a move to enhance their on-demand offerings, Majestic Wine has entered a strategic partnership with Just Eat. This collaboration seeks to address the growing consumer demand for rapid delivery options. Through this service, clients can select from an extensive array of wines, spirits, and beers, with delivery times as rapid as half an hour. The service commenced on 29 October, initially covering 43 locations, with a significant concentration in London and other major cities across the UK. The company anticipates a comprehensive rollout to 177 stores before the holiday season.
Customers will find a broad selection of beverages available through the Just Eat application, ranging from Champagne and Bordeaux to unique Majestic labels like Chosen By Majestic and Definition By Majestic. This development marks an expansion of Majestic’s swift delivery offerings, which already include ties with Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Gophr, thus reinforcing their capabilities in the local delivery market. The on-demand channel’s rapid growth underscores increasing consumer impatience for quick access to retail items, particularly in the wine and spirits sector.
Maria Lopez, Majestic’s commercial general manager, emphasised the value customers place on real-time store stock visibility and the flexible delivery and collection choices. The Just Eat partnership introduces another layer of convenience, allowing Majestic to cater effectively to customer preferences. Lopez shared, “This exciting new partnership with Just Eat will allow us to serve even more customers, whenever they need us, through the rapidly growing on-demand channel.”
Furthermore, the integration of Majestic’s products into Just Eat’s platform aligns with Majestic Wine’s strategic goals. As noted by Amy Heather, Just Eat’s director of strategic partnerships, this collaboration enriches the selection available to their nationwide customer base. “We’re delighted to add Majestic’s selection of quality wines, beers and spirits to the growing range of retailers we’re bringing to Just Eat’s customers,” said Heather. This partnership also aligns with Majestic’s ambition to introduce over 50 new stores, reinforcing their growth trajectory since their acquisition by Fortress in 2019.
Ecommerce plays a vital role in Majestic’s retail strategy, with online sales accounting for over 20% of their retail transactions in 2023/24. The Shop Local feature, in particular, has been instrumental in this growth, allowing consumers to shop based on local store inventory in real-time and opt for complimentary quick collection or next-day home delivery.
Through strategic partnerships and leveraging technology, Majestic Wine continues to innovate in meeting consumer demands for convenience and choice in wine delivery.
