Lucy & Yak, the renowned British direct-to-consumer fashion and lifestyle brand, has celebrated the opening of its latest store in Exeter on Friday, 28th June. This new retail space, located at 7 High Street and measuring a total of 1,709 square feet, is part of the brand’s strategic physical expansion across the UK, making it their ninth store. Following the success of their locations in Bristol, Norwich, Nottingham, Cambridge, Manchester, Cardiff, and Brighton, the Exeter store further strengthens their presence in southern England.
Embodying Lucy & Yak’s characteristic aesthetic, the Exeter shop is adorned in the brand’s signature soft pink palette. It offers customers an array of their latest releases as well as staple products, such as the widely beloved dungarees. The store is thoughtfully designed to include four changing rooms, with one specifically catering to accessibility needs, ensuring an inclusive shopping experience for all customers. The interiors are elegantly finished with natural linen curtains and wood furnishings, enhancing the shopping atmosphere.
A cornerstone of Lucy & Yak’s business model and commitment to environmental sustainability is their innovative buyback scheme. This initiative allows customers at the Exeter store to participate in recycling, repairing, or upcycling their existing garments. This not only encourages a sustainable approach to fashion consumption but also engenders a community-focused retail environment.
Co-founder Lucy Greenwood expressed enthusiasm about the opening, stating, “We’re so excited to announce the opening of our next shop, in Exeter, our most southerly shop to date.” This venture aims to create a hub for creativity and community engagement, reflecting the brand’s core values. The Exeter store will also host upcycling and repair workshops, which customers can soon browse and book online. Greenwood further highlighted the potential for expanding interactions and opportunities within the southwest region, inspired by her personal affinity for the Devon coastline.
The new Exeter store signifies a pivotal milestone in Lucy & Yak’s expansion, reinforcing both its retail presence and commitment to sustainable fashion.
