The Derby facility, inaugurated in 2021, is a substantial part of JD Sports’ logistical framework, featuring a 514,000 square foot area with the capacity to accommodate 500 staff. Notably, JD Sports has assured that while the Derby warehouse is under review, its other major distribution centre, located in Rochdale, remains unaffected by these deliberations. Financially, JD Sports has reported a revenue increase to £10.4bn in the 52 weeks leading to 27 January 2024, marking a 2.7% rise compared to the previous year. However, the profit before tax and adjustments saw a downturn of 8% to £912m, attributed largely to lagging revenue in the latter half of the fiscal year coupled with sustained investment costs.
The company’s financial guidance for FY25 remains optimistic, with projected profits before tax ranging between £955m and £1bn.
