The skyscraper, still maintaining its 76-storey stature, will eclipse the Deansgate South Tower, standing over 200 meters tall. These modifications represent a shift from the initial retail-focused plan to a more diversified approach, blending residential and hospitality elements.
The decision by developers Salboy to include hotel accommodations alongside the 780 apartments initially planned marks a strategic adaptation. This change is intended to bolster Manchester’s burgeoning tourism sector while maintaining the building’s iconic height. Details regarding the number of hotel rooms remain unspecified, as do potential adjustments to the number of residential units. Nevertheless, developers assure that Viadux 2b, comprising 133 affordable homes, will remain unaffected by the changes to Viadux 2a.
