Holland & Barrett is making strides to expand its footprint across the UK by planning to open up to 50 new stores in the coming year. This move is part of the health and wellness retailer’s broader strategy to invest in physical locations, building upon its achievement of opening 35 new sites and refurbishing 280 existing ones over the past year.
As part of its strategic efforts for 2025, the company is targeting various store formats including standalone outlets and in-store concessions. By collaborating with retail partners, Holland & Barrett seeks to create a more accessible shopping experience for consumers throughout the UK. This initiative is expected to include innovative retail formats and concessions, which are vital to its growth trajectory, as reported by The Grocer.
Nick Gerrard, Holland & Barrett’s property and format director, highlighted the retailer’s ongoing discussions with new partners to expand its concessions network, especially on retail parks such as supermarkets. Gerrard stated, ‘There are some undeniable facts, we want Holland & Barrett to be accessible. We’ve only got 19 standalone sites on retail parks, because generally the size of boxes available to us are too big. However, there are partners in those retail parks, be that Tesco or Next or whoever, who actually have spare space and want to make their offer more interesting to the customers that shop with them.’
Currently, Holland & Barrett operates under 50 concessions within Tesco stores and plans to open at least eight more by Christmas. In addition, the company joined forces with Next in July to introduce concessions within three of Next’s high street locations. These strategic partnerships are expected to drive the expansion and offer diversified shopping options for customers.
Holland & Barrett’s ambitious store expansion is poised to reinforce its market presence and accessibility across the UK.
