London Fashion Week 2024 wrapped up on 17 September after a series of dynamic displays that highlighted both emerging and established designers. The event was a mosaic of creativity and cultural fusion, exemplified by standout performances and innovative designs.
Jawara Alleyne’s show, known for its moody red lighting and evocative theming, seamlessly blended his Cayman Islands background with the gritty subculture of London. Models adorned in fabric punctuated with safety pins and beads carried props like driftwood and brass instruments. Alleyne aimed to reflect a ‘dare to be different’ attitude, creating a narrative deeply personal and uniquely his own.
At the Knwls show, attendees were transported to the old Central Saint Martins’ campus, merging tradition with innovation. The designs embraced a ‘tight and loose’ aesthetic, balancing refined tailoring with contemporary flair.
Labrum’s showcase at Emirates Stadium was a celebration of its ‘Designed by an immigrant’ philosophy, highlighted by founder Foday Dumbaya’s passion for Arsenal.
