Gymshark is embarking on a significant expansion of its physical retail footprint in the next year, reflecting its commitment to an evolving omnichannel strategy. The fitness apparel giant will establish three new permanent stores along with a retail outlet pop-up, indicating a robust approach to market presence.
The forthcoming stores will be strategically located in high-traffic shopping areas, including the Trafford Centre in Manchester, Westfield White City in London, and The Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. This marks a key milestone as Amsterdam will host Gymshark’s first store in mainland Europe, a testament to the brand’s growing popularity and demand within the region.
In early 2025, Gymshark will open its third store in London situated at Westfield White City. This 9,000 square foot location comes after its initial venture at Westfield Stratford City, launched in July. Meanwhile, in Amsterdam, the store is poised to inaugurate in spring 2025, offering a substantial 10,000 square foot space, aiming to replicate the core experiential offerings seen in London.
As part of its northern expansion, the retailer will commence operations at a new standalone store in Manchester’s Trafford Centre next summer. This site will span 7,500 square feet and will present an exclusive assortment tailored for the region, reflecting Gymshark’s strategic localisation effort.
Additionally, a new retail outlet pop-up is anticipated to launch shortly, possibly as soon as the next month, in Bicester Village. This location presents an opportunity for Gymshark to explore the off-price shopping experience, running from October to January 2025.
Hannah Mercer, Gymshark’s General Manager of Wholesale and Retail, emphasised the brand’s dedication to expanding its physical presence, stating, “We’ve said for a while now that we are fully committed to an omnichannel strategy, and today’s announcement is a real ‘ramping up’ moment on this pledge.” The focus on cities renowned for their vibrant fitness communities underscores the strategic intent.
By the summer of next year, Gymshark aims to operate seven stores, a notable growth from having a single store in 2022. This advancement signifies not only geographical expansion but also deeper engagement with diverse communities passionate about health and fitness.
In summary, Gymshark’s ambitious store expansion underscores its commitment to enhancing the in-person shopping experience across key European markets.
