Greggs is returning to Fenwick to introduce a new champagne bar, marking a second collaboration between these prominent North East businesses. Their previous venture, Bistro Greggs, attracted significant attention, with over 8,000 patrons visiting within just one month. This success has paved the way for the current venture, promising to be a highlight in Newcastle’s festive season.
Scheduled to launch on October 24, the Greggs Champagne Bar will operate until December 25 in Fenwick’s Food Hall, accessible exclusively through reservations. The pop-up bar seeks to merge Greggs’ familiar baked goods with an upscale experience, featuring an array of prestigious champagnes.
Leo Fenwick, strategic partnerships director at Fenwick, expressed pride in this renewed collaboration, aiming to offer a memorable and unique dining experience. He highlighted the pop-up as a reflection of Fenwick’s strategy to continuously evolve its restaurant offerings through novel and unexpected partnerships.
The menu, a product of combined efforts by Fenwick’s executive head chef Mark Reid and Greggs, introduces sophisticated variations of classic items. Patrons can expect steak bakes with peppercorn aioli and sausage rolls with hot honey chilli sauce, alongside champagnes like Bollinger Rosé and Louis Roederer Cristal. The pricing for champagne ranges up to £75 per glass or £425 per bottle.
Designed to evoke the opulence of the Belle Epoque era, The Greggs Champagne Bar features seating around a curved bar for 16 guests, enhanced by the charm of vintage crystal bells for service attention. Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, acknowledged the distinctiveness of this food and drink pairing, hoping to replicate and exceed the previous year’s success.
The Greggs and Fenwick champagne bar promises to be a distinctive and festive culinary experience.
