The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT) has started a fundraising effort to gather £10,000 to support families within the fashion industry who are struggling to afford essential items for their children. This initiative focuses on providing indispensable goods such as bedding, bedroom furniture, appliances, and clothing.
Survey results show a concerning 80% of parents employed in the industry fear the inability to keep their children warm throughout the winter. Additionally, 36% of them noted challenges in purchasing necessary winter clothing for their children. These findings underscore the critical need for financial assistance within this community.
Bedding brand Vision Linens has generously contributed by donating 100 sets of bedding bundles, ready to be distributed among families benefiting from FTCT grants. Other associated partners like Boden, Johnsons Hotel Linen, Ralph Lauren, Clean Linen, and Luxury Lockstitch UK are engaging in various fundraising activities to bolster the appeal.
FTCT, being a small charity, assures that the total donation will be directed to families requiring aid, reaffirming their commitment to transparency and efficiency. Anna Pangbourne, CEO of FTCT, expressed the dire choices faced by families during winter, “For families already struggling to make ends meet, the winter months bring impossible choices: heating the home or buying warm clothes for their children.” This highlights the pressing nature of the campaign.
