A burglary has severely impacted Batch LDN, a budding tailoring business in East London, as their Spitalfields store was broken into early on 24 October. The perpetrators managed to steal merchandise valued at £6,000, including the store’s entire collection of AW24 wool herringbone suits.
The burglars reportedly made their escape on bicycles, specifically described as a white bike and a Lime bike. Authorities were informed that entry was gained by smashing a window with two bricks, causing additional property damage.
Julian Osborne, co-founder of Batch LDN, expressed his distress over the event, stating that incidences like these are part of the inherent challenges faced by start-ups. “Just another day of typical start-up turbulence,” Osborne remarked in reflection.
The business is actively seeking information from anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Commercial Street between 3 and 4 am on the day of the burglary, in the hopes of facilitating police efforts.
Despite the setback, Batch LDN remains committed to their craft and the local community, while cooperating fully with City of London Police in their ongoing investigation.
The incident underscores the vulnerabilities small businesses face and highlights the need for community vigilance and support.
