Deliveroo has announced a strategic partnership with Blue Light Card to support essential workers through complimentary delivery services. This initiative is aimed at the NHS, emergency services, social care sector, teachers, and armed forces, providing them with access to Deliveroo Plus Silver membership for 12 months at no cost.
This membership affords holders the privilege of free delivery when making purchases from participating outlets including restaurants and major retailers such as Nando’s, Wagamama, and Waitrose. This opportunity is particularly significant as it positions Deliveroo as the sole delivery platform partnered with Blue Light Card, potentially offering members savings of over £40 annually.
In addition to free delivery, members will have the advantage of accessing exclusive localised offers and participating in Deliveroo’s rewards scheme. This scheme rewards repeat customers; for example, an £8 discount is applied to the fourth order if three orders are placed at the same location within 30 days.
Caroline Harris, Vice President of Marketing for UK and Ireland at Deliveroo, articulated the company’s dedication to honouring essential workers by providing free access to local dining and shopping experiences. She stated, ‘We’re proud to reward Blue Light members with free delivery when they order from their favourite neighbourhood restaurants, grocers, and retailers, as well as exclusive members-only discounts.’
Andy Collins, COO of Blue Light Card, highlighted the transformational impact this collaboration could have, especially for shift workers needing round-the-clock delivery. ‘For many shift workers, being able to get their favourite meals or essentials delivered round-the-clock is a game-changer,’ Collins noted, signifying the continuous support for their hardworking and dedicated community.
This partnership signifies Deliveroo’s commitment to supporting essential workers by providing significant savings and improved service access through targeted collaborations.
