Downs is expected to play a significant role in steering the commercial strategies at Castore, a brand looking to write its next chapter of growth. Co-founder and co-chief executive Tom Beahon expressed high expectations, noting Downs’ alignment with the company’s mission to ‘relentlessly improve’.
According to Beahon, ‘We’re delighted to welcome Danny to the team at Castore and are excited for him to lead our commercial operations as we continue our development as the UK’s fastest growing retailer.’ This strategic hire aligns with the company’s ambition to solidify its market position and enhance its business operations.
Downs shared his enthusiasm about joining Castore, highlighting his intent to challenge established industry players and support the brand’s upward trajectory. He remarked, ‘I’m very excited to be joining Castore as we continue to challenge the big players of the industry.’
The new chief commercial officer is poised to build upon Castore’s recent successes, including record-breaking product launches over the past year and upcoming new partnerships. His role will involve advancing the business development and team partnerships functions, which are crucial to Castore’s growth.
Previously in July, Castore also appointed Peter Alecock, formerly with JD Sports, as commercial director. Alecock’s role was created to sharpen the brand’s retail, wholesale, and ecommerce performance, both in partnerships and mainline divisions.
