In a significant move to enhance the shopping experience, Currys is deploying electronic shelf edge labelling across its UK and Ireland stores as part of a comprehensive upgrade programme. By the end of the financial year, it is anticipated that 100 stores will feature this technology, with 60 locations already adopting the system ahead of the busiest shopping season. This centralised approach aims to improve pricing precision and ensure products remain adequately stocked.
A digital queuing system is being rolled out to all 298 Currys stores, designed to improve the management of customer orders and minimise waiting times. This innovation is expected to facilitate smoother interactions with sales associates, especially crucial during peak trading periods.
Additionally, Currys has extended its store opening hours by a cumulative 1,800 hours, demonstrating a commitment to customer accessibility. Moreover, the Order & Collect window has been optimised, narrowing from 28 days to just 10, reflecting an effort to accommodate the needs of time-sensitive holiday shoppers.
Matthew Speight, the director of stores at Currys, highlights the optimism shared among employees regarding these changes, noting the benefits of digital ticketing in enhancing both customer and staff experiences. He emphasises the readiness of Currys to deliver excellent technology products during the bustling festive period, driven by these strategic advancements.
In essence, Currys’ digital upgrades are set to transform the retail landscape, promising enhanced accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
