- Laura Dubin-Wander steps in as President, Americas, bringing a wealth of experience.
- These strategic appointments aim to bolster Burberry’s market position.
- Burberry faces challenging times, including recent revenue slumps prompting leadership shifts.
Burberry, the esteemed British luxury brand, has made significant appointments to its senior management team, reflecting a strategic focus on strengthening its global operations. The company announced the induction of two pivotal figures to support its growth strategy and operational efficiency.
Jonathan Kiman joins Burberry as the Chief Marketing Officer. Previously serving at Gucci in Milan as the CMO and holding various senior leadership roles, Kiman brings substantial experience in revitalising brand strategies and enhancing digital marketing efficacy. His role at Burberry will be crucial in steering the company’s marketing strategies, effective from 9 September.
Simultaneously, Laura Dubin-Wander has been appointed President for the Americas. With an impressive track record including leadership roles at Coach North America, Christian Dior Couture, and Givenchy, she most recently served as CEO of OTB North America. Dubin-Wander’s strategic expertise will be leveraged to drive Burberry’s regional growth, with her tenure commencing on 4 September.
These strategic appointments occur against a backdrop of financial challenges for Burberry. The recent announcement of CEO Jonathan Akeroyd’s departure, following a significant year-on-year revenue decline of 22%, has prompted a recalibration of its leadership dynamics to mitigate future risks. This move underscores the company’s commitment to reinvigorating its leadership and operational framework.
Notably, Burberry’s CEO, Joshua Schulman, expressed his enthusiasm for these appointments, stating, ‘Jonathan has a wealth of experience in rejuvenating brands and building digital-savvy marketing organisations.’ Similarly, he acknowledged Dubin-Wander as ‘a results-driven and dynamic leader’ poised to cultivate success across the Americas.
These key leadership changes reflect Burberry’s proactive approach to navigating the volatile luxury market landscape.
