Bianca Saunders, a celebrated British menswear designer, has secured the esteemed BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund for 2024, underscoring her influence in the fashion realm. This significant achievement provides her with a £100,000 cash prize, which is aimed at supporting her brand’s continued growth and global expansion.
In addition to the financial prize, Bianca receives invaluable mentorship over the next year from the BFC Fashion Business Network and pro-bono legal services from Sheridans, a specialist media and technology law firm. These resources are pivotal in guiding her brand toward a sustainable and impactful future.
The competition was fierce, with Saunders being selected from a shortlist that included renowned names such as Labrum London, Saul Nash, and Bleue Burnham. The judging panel was co-chaired by Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC, and Adam Baidawi, head of editorial content at British GQ, and featured respected industry figures like Angelo Mitakos, Murray Clark, Tahir Basheer, and Nicholas Daley.
Saunders launched her eponymous label in 2017 after graduating from The Royal College of Art. She quickly made a name for herself, notably featuring in Drapers’ 30 Under 30 list in 2021 and winning the French ANDAM prize the same year. Her designs have captivated audiences, with high-profile clients such as musician Usher sporting her creations at the Met Gala in 2023.
Her brand has seen remarkable growth, expanding its team from two to ten employees and doubling its presence in high-end retailers like Selfridges and Browns across the globe. Saunders emphasised the sense of community and understated artistry that her brand embodies, expressing gratitude for the continued support and dedication of her team.
