Former England striker, Gary Lineker’s respected commentary, alongside Shearer and Richards’ mix of expertise and relatability, has secured its top spot. “The Rest is Football” has soared in popularity during sporting events, accumulating 19.6 million downloads and full episode YouTube views during Euro 2024, with an additional 66 million views across social media platforms during the same period.3
In second place is “Football Weekly”, a long-standing favourite from The Guardian, hosted by Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning. Known for its sharp analysis and witty, journalistic flair, it’s been a go-to for fans seeking in-depth football discussions for over a decade. Manchester United also dominates the podcast scene, with “Football’s Greatest” as their top show and the second most popular club-focused podcast overall, while “Talk of the Devils” ranks third among all football club podcasts.
